Samuel and I have exchanged a few messages regarding our love of melancholy, and this shot has a very solemn feel, which I love. The focus is intentionally soft, so when my camera tried to autofocus on the image for this shot it did a mechanical double-take before it finally focused. The blurriness in my viewfinder for that brief moment made me feel like I was shooting in Belgium myself. One day… Belgium by way of France!
